Rules of Engagement With Your Targeted Traffic

When engaging with your targeted traffic, it is important of observe the unwritten rules in order to be effective in establishing relations with your readers. This will help prevent issues and altercations with your website visitors, which is a bad situation that you must avoid at all cost.

Bear in mind that you will be representing your business while engaging with your readers. So make sure to observe proper etiquette since your reputation among varied communities is on the line. While there is no established law regarding this, there are unwritten rules to follow that serve as your guide when interacting with your readers. If you are not aware of what these rules are, you can start learning a few of them as detailed below.

Be Polite

Utmost politeness is not only encouraged but demanded by some. Being the content author or the blog owner, you have to treat each web visitor special. After all, you are publishing contents mainly for the readers; so, give them the V.I.P treatment that they usually expect from you. For them, you owe them for their visit. But if your content is truly good, you also deserve all praises that can potentially make your post go viral.

Don’t Argue

No matter how bad the feedbacks are, never get yourself into argument with your readers. In line with this, never use bad words and harsh phrases, or you will trigger a bout of heated argument not just with one person but many. A good way to manage bad comments is to remain silent or to just ignore the comment. But if the post is damaging your reputation, then you must express out your stand but in a nice way.

Post Constructive Comment

Never post negative comments against a person. Instead, insert constructive comments. This will attract more supporters and avoid enemies. Remember, your posts will be read by many of your targeted traffic, and posting negative comments will not do you any good.

Add More Value

Aside from the value shared in your content, add more in your comments so that readers will be motivated to read the comment section to get more valuable tips and priceless information. By adding more value in your comments, you will inspire others to insert comments, as well. More importantly, valuable comments will also attract readers to check out your profile that will lead them to your other posts.

Answer Questions

Observe etiquette of commenting by answering questions raised by your readers. If they know that you are active in the comment section and you always answer questions, then readers will start following your posts by subscribing to your RSS feed, or by bookmarking your site to get future updates from you.

You should treat questions as opportunities for interaction. So take advantage of the questions by quickly answering them. To achieve better traction, provide answers beyond the expectations of the commenter by adding more value and detailed information.

Don’t Spam

Avoid spamming the comment section with redundant posts; this will only irritate your readers and you will also lose many followers infuriated by your spam posts that were obviously made for the sake of igniting engagement. So comment moderately. Don’t do it excessively, but insert comments only when necessary.

Avoid Commercialize Comments

Readers can quickly detect comments that are highly commercialized or overly promotional. They don’t usually like commercialized comments since the section is definitely not the right place to promote products and services. Therefore, avoid posting promotional comments with marketing in mind. Don’t send links to sales copies and landing page. Rather, send readers to similar contents of your site that contain links to your landing page, or where your banner ads are displayed.

There are other rules of engagement noteworthy of knowing. But you must first keep in mind the above etiquette while engaging with your targeted traffic, and you will be rewarded with higher conversion rate.
